AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING AND COMMUNITY AND JUNIOR COLLEGES FROM SELLING LISTS OF STUDENTS' NAMES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning may not sell or authorize a person or institution to sell any list of names of students enrolled in or having graduated from a state institution of higher learning to an issuer of credit cards or to any other person, firm, corporation, trust, organization or institution.
SECTION 2. No public community or junior college may sell any list of names of students enrolled in or having completed a course of study at that community or junior college to an issuer of credit cards or to any other person, firm, corporation, trust, organization or institution.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1999.
